I hear my friends all the time saying "I wanted to see that movie, but I didn't have anybody to go with". What? I'm amazed by that. I go to the movies by myself maybe 80-90 % of the time. And not because I'm anti-social (ok, maybe I am but it this isn't an example of it). I go to the movie theatre because I REALLY want to see a movie it's not just for something to do with my friends. Here's the thing though, even if I'm not there with anybody I know I'm still not alone. Movie going by nature is a communial experience. Which is why theaters are still thriving even in this digital age of Blue Ray, HDTV and internet streaming movies(which are AWESOME by the way). It doesn't matter that I don't know the person sitting next to me. I'm still there sharing the experience with them. Laughing, crying, yelling "bullshit" at the screen(ok maybe just me on that one). I go to the theater when I don't want to watch a movie by myself. So, next time there's a movie you really want see and don't have any friends to go with you take it from me - GO. You won't be alone. Unless you have poor taste and pick really unpopular movies, then maybe you are on your own.
